- if you are allergic to docusate sodium or any of the other ingredients of this medicine (listed in section 6)

- if you have a blocked bowel (intestinal obstruction)
- if you have been told you are unable to take a sugar called fructose. Dioctyl contains sorbitol and is therefore unsuitable for you
